OK, I have a confession and an apology. I inadvertently misled many of you regarding the longevity of this brunch. I said we were beginning our fifth year. That is true because we have completed four years. In any case, I really appreciate all of your kind words and well wishes.

Starting again however was more difficult than I expected.  It wasn't that there hadn't been incidents of punishment while I'd been off, its just that I'd already written about them.  Well what I mean is that they were indistinguishable from others that I'd written about, so finding something to get started with was difficult and grinding out those first three posts was like pouring concrete.

Another update...nothing wonderful.
I threw out my back 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but trouble since. I went to the doctor for it on friday and he was concerned about it being a blood clot so he sent me to the ER....four hours later no clot found. Meds were dispensed and I was sent home. Luckily the back pain is starting to subside a great deal...unluckily I now have pink eye...the fun never stops around here!
Anyway...It's Superbowl Sunday and I am trying to get back into the swing of things around here... slowly. I hope everyone enjoys the game, the commercials, or the peace and quiet if you have the tv off and are simply enjoying the company of someone special. The princess is making Valentines for her classmates at school. She has a bag of chocolate hearts, colored papers, a list of people and she’s set off  making a collection of oddly-shaped little notes with misspellings, math problems and various other decor in pencil and marker. For each one she is taping one of the chocolate hearts to the cover. Next week, the school district has closed on the 12th and the 15th for President’s Day and an in-service, but never fear. Her first-grade teacher has planned a big Valentines bash for February 11 and all the children are expected to exchange Valentines with each other. The event will be complete with “teaching centers” run by parents who are expected to do Valentine’s crafts, ...

Absolutely, positively, and always. We use spanking in different ways in our relationship. Gotta make this short, my computer died yesterday and for some miraculous reason it’s working right now, but I don’t trust it. I went out and bought a new one (AAAAUUGGGHHH!!!-there went my trip to a conference in Arizona in April), but Mr. Carlyle needs to help me set it up. And he’s super busy with his new job. At least I didn’t lose any data. I thought I’d lost a good 100 hours of work, but thankfully, no. Whew!

I hope you don't think that what happened with my friends, what I wrote about in the last blogpost, was anything close to abusive. I may have expressed me as if I wasn't in on it but I was. I know them well and I trust them with my life, they are really great friends. I can assure you that no Mirandas were harmed and that we were all very happy for it to happen.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that Felicia and I are very different. She is very dedicated to her job, her research. I am dedicated to my friends and to her. I am not saying she isn't but she is in addition very focussed on her work, while I see mine as something I like doing, for the time being.

I realize that the appreciation of the view of females, males, or together is personal. We all have preferences. What I am putting forth here is expressing only my likes and dislikes. I don’t mean that other view or preferences are wrong in any way. I am sure that most of us would have some of these in common. There is a partial overlap in preferences. In case people were wondering why Mark hasn't been active for a while, I thought it a good idea to let his readers know that he hasn't dropped off the face of the world or been abducted by aliens.
It's not my place to go into details - that is his prerogative - but I wanted to reassure people that he is OK and quite well. He has undergone quite a big change in his personal life which has left him with little time to pass by and leave a note here while he goes through his adjustment. We are still in contact and haven't fallen out.
Whether this blog continues in the future is his decision but it's one we'll have to wait for to find out.

I can't even begin to put into words the depth of the sorrow and compassion I feel for all that have been touched by the earthquake disaster in Haiti. The poor people who had virtually nothing before now have even less, and the furry ones who were lacking or needy before are even more so now, plus hungrier and thirstier, as are all the people.
